Assalamualaikum Yeops and Yongs and Greetings everyone!
A common sight for door gifts for the guests to a muslim malay weddding throughout the country. For gents, you will be given a different set from the ladies. Something did came across my mind ….
After the door gift was passed to us on our way out of the hall, I received the gift pack and we head back to our car. I was curious as always and take a peek into the box to see what the host has given us. as for mine, they gave a mini sejadah ( praying mat) and tasbih ( rosary) . That sejadah is useful for travelling and when you’re attending solat jumaat when the congregation is full. You may end up on open area and with a mini sejadah on the ground.

As for the ladies, they got candies in their door gift. which my wondering mind comes out loud …
Me: How come you ladies end up with candies and I end up with sejadah and tasbih? I think most of the wedding we attended with door gifts, this seems too common already.
Wifey: Well..isn’t it obvious?
Me: what’s so obvious that we, gents only got that?
Wifey : It is because kaum lelaki ( muslim men) has a lot of dosa ( sins), that’s why they send this gift as reminder for taubat ( repentance) .
Me: ..aduhai...( sigh)
Wifey : Touche’.
There goes a boomerang to my head … taken in a light reminder manner. we can’t run away from committing any sins and we shouldn’t delay in repenting. In the meantime, for folks who are not familiar attending local weddings, please open the gift at home or not within the view of the host or other guests. If you’re not in time to bring a present or gift for the bride and groom, a token of any amount in cash will also do. either you pass it to the host or to the host family members. I’ll cover the part on how to discreetly and honorably pass the token in my next month’s entry. InsyaAllah.
Pesanan saya kepada anda semua, tak kira lelaki atau wanita, bertaubatlah anda sementara masa masih ada. Banyakkan istigfar.
