I was trying to recall the tune from the movie ” Bridge over River Kwai ” about WW2 POW building a railbridge only gets it blown up by their own army. As an adult with raised in the city, rivers usually amazes us on one point or another.
The Klang and Gombak river was polluted and there are plenty of bridges some of which we’re unaware of in Kuala Lumpur.

so here I am crossing the Perak river from Bekor, returning from my small palm oil farm. I was on the boat and while crossing the river, something caught me attention upriver. Which I must investigate further after reaching the riverbank.

a bridge ? wow! finally after countless debates, Annual General meeting in village cooperatives, coffeshop talk, election speeches by various political party candidates, state senate meeting, special state exco government meeting ..bla bla bla…even one of the village elders grew tired of it and told me
” Berape kali miker panggil mesyuarat pun tak abis miker nak komplen pasal bende nih.. ” @ regardless of countless times you call for a meeting, this will always be an unfinished agenda in the list of complaints.
Of course I’m always be curious to the details and there’s a few things on the project board which raises many many many questions.. then again..I’m not here to highlight those questions to my readers. Let this blog readers read it up on the pictures.
I saw this on the web and shared it across with you on the estimated bridge length – less than 500 meters or 0.3 miles .

How the bridge will be useful for the people of this district ?
- School going children. They will no longer be subjected to the the boat ride.
- Farmers going across the river using boat. These boats are not entirely suited to carry motorcycle on its – it is not a barge or ferry . It is a passenger carrying boat. I wanted to make a post on how dangerous and risk and how the boats can be modified to make it suitable for carrying motorcycles across.
- Time savers on travelling by cars or lorries. If you travelling by car, just to get across, you will need to spend at least 40 minutes to get across , as you have to travel downriver for another 12 km and cross the Tg Belanja bridge and another 12 km up. These roads are fill with sharp bends and hilly areas. And as a safety precaution, it will be passing through several villages . you got to drive safely when passing through these villages .
- Emergency Response team. Ambulance, Fire engine trucks, police patrol cars could get to and fro easily. The village health care center could distribute and could refer them to the town’s medical center, which have means to transfer them to nearby hospitals ( Kuala Kangsar ) or Batu Gajah.
- Daily business and micro economic activities. From wet market to bringing their good to be sold in the middle of the town, access to town via public bus. this will help to increase their economic growth and eventually help their lives to prosper better.
My surprise was that – there’s no mention how much the bridge will cost the tax payers money or they could at least shows a basic calculation what’s the benefit for the people in using this bridge.

The builders will have to close some part of the Dataran Amanjaya , the town square for the bridge construction. So I’ll post another progress update soon when I visit this place again with more stories and update.
Till then, I wish you all the best. Fi amanillah!
